The Butcher Shoppe opened its doors in 1984 in the Kensington Market area of downtown Toronto. Instead of working off a product list, founder Allan Weisberg carved out a reputation for custom orders, carefully prepared as in the finest butcher tradition, hands-on and personal. Although The Butcher Shoppe catapulted into the wholesale trade a few years later, the retail approach of hands-on attention and personalized service lived on. With steady growth, the company moved to its present location in the west end of Toronto in 1989. In subsequent years, we acquired adjacent properties, substantially increasing both cooler and freezer capacity to address our customers' needs. Several years later, we completed a major expansion and renovation, merging our facilities and adding new space for production, shipping and storage. T
he Butcher Shoppe continues to be owned and operated by the same family who founded it. Today, as always, you can count on the finest cuts of meat, selected and prepared with pride. And 32 years on, our passion to please customers is stronger than ever.
